Sales

There are normally two types of work from home opportunities here – sales and customer service. Most of these type of jobs that are available as work from home are telephone based positions. You can sell just about anything by phone but there are specific types of companies that hire work from home contractors or employees.

The Catch

One of the biggest disadvantages in these fields is the inconsistency of the workload. Some jobs are seasonal. Some have hours that are determined by how busy they are.

What You Spend

Some companies charge you to do a credit check; you have startup expenses in setting up a computer, land line phone, fax, printer, and high speed internet. You will also need noise reducing headphones with a mic.

The Advantage

You are also not taking all the risks by yourself, but you have the ability to make as much money as you physically can. Often if you are working as an employee pay days are set and payment is consistent.

The Way You Make Money

You are usually paid by commission, and perhaps can earn a bonus as well. Some companies pay based on the number of phone calls you make in a shift others by the hour.

How & When You Get Paid

This can be part time at between 26-32 hours, or it can be full time at 40 hours a week. Most pay twice a month, but some pay weekly. It is up to the company when you get paid. Most companies pay their off-site people by direct deposit to their bank accounts. Also, a few companies offer benefits.
